چکیده
A modest body of research exists in the area human sleep genetics, which suggests that specific phenotypes are, like many other complex traits, somewhat heritable. Until 2007 into genetics relied solely on twin studies, but last 13 years with advent huge biobanks and very large-scale genome-wide association field molecular has seen important advances. To date, majority have focused self-reported duration, recent studies objectively-measured emerged. These genetic discovered multiple common variants as such, provided insight potential biological pathways, causal relationships between duration disease outcomes using Mendelian randomisation. They also shown heritability these traits may not be high previously estimated. This article is first to provide a detailed review advances epidemiology duration. Studies were identified both GWAS Catalog PubMed for completeness. Focus published including whether how they elucidated biology advanced knowledge health.

A Bayesian Graphical Model for Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS)
The present paradigm to analyze GWAS is to perform an exhausting testing of all single SNP associations with the response variable with the major drawback that the selected subset of SNPs has in general a very low predictive value. As a shift to the usual approach, we propose here a general statistical framework for GWAS based on Bayesian graphical modeling and able to: 1) Assess the joint effe...
متن کاملGenome-wide association studies (GWAS) and their importance in asthma.
Asthma is a complex disease determined by the interaction of different genes and environmental factors. The first genetic investigations in asthma were candidate gene association studies and linkage studies. In recent years research has focused on association studies that scan the entire genome without any prior conditioning hypothesis: the so-called genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The ...
متن کاملGenome Wide Association Studies, Next Generation Sequencing and Their Application in Animal Breeding and Genetics: A Review
Recently genetic studies have been revolutionized by next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, and it is expected that the use of this technology will largely eliminate defects in the methods of association studies. The NGS technology is becoming the premier tool in genetics. However, at the moment the use of this method is limited especially in the livestock due to high cost and computation...

The SNPs are then ranked based on their univariate p-values, and a threshold is set such that any SNP with a p-value below the threshold is identified as significant. Multiplicity adjustment methods, such as bonferroni, false discovery rate (FDR) can be used to...
متن کاملLessons and Implications from Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) Findings of Blood Cell Phenotypes
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified reproducible genetic associations with hundreds of human diseases and traits. The vast majority of these associated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are non-coding, highlighting the challenge in moving from genetic findings to mechanistic and functional insights. Nevertheless, large-scale (epi)genomic studies and bioinformatic analyse...
